02 CASA ITZAMNÁ

Cobá,
Quintana Roo 2023
Casa Itzamná, nestled near Cobá in the Yucatán Peninsula, is more than just a sanctuary for bees; it's a beacon of hope for the preservation of traditional Mayan medicine and the endangered Melipona bee species. These native sting-less bees, pivotal pollinators of the Mayan jungle, are under threat due to rampant tourism and unchecked development. At the heart of Casa Itzamná's efforts is an understanding of the bees' role in Mayan traditions and the production of a unique medicinal honey. The sanctuary also proudly features a holistic health center, shining a light on the rich tapestry of indigenous Mayan healing practices.

Operated by Virgilio Gómez for over a decade, Casa Itzamná goes beyond conservation. Their initiatives include training local Mayan women in beekeeping, intertwining the survival of the Melipona species with the empowerment of the community and an additional source of income.

In our partnership with Casa Itzamná, we're magnifying their mission with a comprehensive suite of services. We are conducting business planning workshops, drafting financial projections, devising communication strategies, and producing engaging content. Our collaboration with graphic designer Philip Leff is breathing new life into their brand. With our guidance in project management, the rebranding process promises to be seamless. Looking to the future, we're preparing to launch their crowdfunding campaign, and we are actively connecting them with international NGOs for potential funding avenues.
